Wearing tips for radiation safety glasses

Not all radiation safety glasses are made the same. With the rest of the equipment that you may wear, in addition to lead or radiation glasses, you want to consider a few things. Otherwise, you’re going to feel uncomfortable, or worse; you will not wear radiation safety glasses when you need them the most.

Consider the weight

Many radiation glasses out there can be quite heavy, as they are made as lead glasses and can bring a strain on your face and neck. We carry plenty of options at Attenutech® that are extremely lightweight and come with lead equivalency protection, so you don’t have to strain yourself.

Getting the sizing and fit right

Know your head size, and always pay attention to the frame size. You want to make sure that the glasses easily fit onto your face without the temples stretching out too far or being pushed in to fit your head. To help with the fit after the size, you want to look at radiation glasses with rubberized nose pads and temples. This will help with anti-slip features and reduce the pressure on your face after wearing them all day. If you want to enhance comfort with the protection, consider getting radiation glasses with a foam gasket

In addition, you may want to consider buying frames with a strap as that can also help those radiation glasses from slipping. For those that find themselves already wearing prescription glasses, no worries, as there are plenty of options for prescription lead glasses. You can also select Fitovers leaded x-ray safety eyewear radiation glasses that will work to fit on top of many standard prescription glasses.

Let’s take a look at some radiation safety glasses to consider that help fulfill the criteria above.

Radiation Safety Glasses Nike Brazen

Nike is continuously growing their line of safety glasses, especially radiation glasses. The Nike Brazen Radiation Safety Glasses are an excellent choice because it’s not your standard lead glasses. They come in a wraparound design to fit securely on your face. In addition, they are extremely lightweight because their frame is constructed with TR-90 Nylon material and will fit comfortably on your face with their rubberized nose pads and temples.

The lenses aren’t Nike lead glasses but are SF-6 Schott glass lenses that come with a lead equivalency of 0.75mm Pb.

Radiation Safety Glasses T9603

Similar to the Nike Brazen above, these come with SF-6 Schott glass lenses that offer distortion-free protection against radiation. The T9603 Radiation Safety Glasses also come with a detachable silicone foam gasket that helps provide comfort and an extra layer of protection against dirt and debris getting in. You can grab a pair in either black clear or orange clear.

Radiation Safety Glasses Microlitemx

For those looking for radiation glasses with a strap that’s also in a wraparound design, then the Microlitemx Radiation Safety Glasses are an excellent option as well. They don’t lack comfort with the Duralite™ frame build and the  ‘spring relief’ temple bars, keeping them on your face when you need them most. These radiation safety glasses also come with Optibloc™ leaded side shields, making sure you have as much protection as needed.
